Tietoevry Care has delivered its Lifecare EHR (Electronic Health Record) system to Ostrobothnia county’s social and primary healthcare, as well as to Vaasa Central Hospital and other specialized healthcare units. The delivery was made in phases starting from October 2024. The Lifecare EHR system replaced six different client and patient information systems in the county. Standardizing the system enables the provision of equal services to approximately 176,000 residents of the county. The county employs 8,000 social and healthcare professionals and consists of 14 municipalities.
The unified Lifecare EHR supports the daily work of social and healthcare professionals in the wellbeing services county of Ostrobothnia by providing a real-time comprehensive view of client and patient information.
"For our professionals, this is not just a change of tools, as we are also implementing uniform operating models across the entire area. When the customer's and patient's information is up-to-date and accessible to all participants in the care process, we can better coordinate care phases and procedures. This also reduces the risk of errors," says Carola Wisur-Hokkanen, project manager of the wellbeing services county of Ostrobothnia.
"All our clients can now access the shared Citizen's health service. Patients can view their own information and participate more actively in their own care through digital transactions," Wisur-Hokkanen continues.
Ari Järvelä, Managing Director of Tietoevry Care, emphasizes that Tietoevry Care is developing the Lifecare EHR system in collaboration with its customers to implement high-quality and cost-effective social and healthcare services.
"This has been a major change, which has required seamless cooperation among various parties enabling particularly fast delivery of Lifecare EHR. We are very pleased with the collaboration with the Ostrobothnia county and 2M-IT. The reform significantly improves the services offered to the residents of the county in both Finnish and Swedish," Järvelä praises and adds: "Our system's open data model offers extensive customization according to the workflows of the customer organization, enabling effective utilization of clinical and operational data, for example, through artificial intelligence."
"The wellbeing services county of Ostrobothnia has taken a big step towards a common documentation platform, as a long-standing project has progressed to a critical phase with the hospital's implementation of the patient information system starting on the last weekend of March. The county's own experts, 2M-IT, and Tietoevry Care provide enhanced support both on-site and via phone lines," states Jari Nevalainen, CEO of 2M-IT.
Lifecare is currently in use in 15 wellbeing services counties, covering over 3 million Finnish citizens.
